They have this fluffy and cuddly look that makes us want to hug and befriend them.

Their often slow and chill lifestyle (mostly eating and sleeping) would make us think they’re entirely harmless animals.

However, koalas are aggressive animals, too, especially if they’re out in the open.

They often feel vulnerable when not in their natural habitat and could get aggressive when defending themselves from potential predators.

It’s always best to be cautious in approaching them to avoid getting hurt, no matter how good your intentions are.

Take this story as an example.

A koala in Byron Bay, New South Wales, Australia, got himself trapped in a net.

Koalas are native to Australia and can be found on the eastern and southeastern coasts of the country.

And while koalas prefer to live in the wild, they wander around the residential areas, hoping to find food or a new tree to hang on to.

That was probably what this koala had in mind until he got trapped.

The residents nearby woke up to see the unfortunate situation of the poor koala.

They said it was a nylon fence they created to house the chickens in their backyard but had no idea how the koala figured himself there.

The woman realized the koala was probably stuck there for a while, so she rushed to help.

Wrapped in her blue towel, she ran to the koala with scissors and started cutting the net tangled around him.

She talked and petted the koala to calm him down and to know that she would not harm him.

For every snip of the scissors, she would pet the koala and reassure him he would be okay.

She kept telling the little koala, “It’s okay, we’re gonna fix this for you,” and the trapped creature’s expression looked scared, but he also pleaded with the woman to free him of his unlucky predicament.

Then, it came to the most tangled part – his leg.

It also seemed to be the most painful one because he tried to bite the woman when she tried to loosen the nylon so she could insert one side of the scissors and cut through.

She stopped herself and soothed the koala once more.

Alas, the koala bent over and shook off the net to finally free himself!

He ran off and never looked back.

The woman said he immediately climbed on one of their tried to rest there for a while.

We bet this koala never attempted to go back to their residence again.

This video went viral and had almost 2.3 million views!

People applauded the woman for being so gentle with the koala, even if it tried to scratch or bite her as she cut the nylon to free him.

It’s in these moments that we see the kindness of humans towards other living creatures, risking themselves just to help an animal in need.

Watch how this woman rescued the koala in the video below.
